My Friend's Older Sister and the Man from Hungary

This was a special wedding for me! During the winter break of my Freshman year at Benedictine College, I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding reception for one of my best friend's sisters, Julianna Zimmer. Even better, this was my first wedding with a international groom! Julianna had met Domi during her time as a missionary in Hungary, and after their wedding day they would move back across the world to live there.

Look through to the end to see a special Hungarian tradition at this wedding! Below you'll see some photos that st the scene of the reception.

Speeches

With dinner over, the time had come for some speeches. These were given by the maid of honor and the best man, and the parents of the bride and groom. Scroll down to see a special surprise that happened right after these speeches!

The Surprise Love Song

If there's one thing the Zimmer boys love to do, its sing and play guitar. Their older sister was the first of the siblings to get married, and such a special occasion called for a special gift: the boys wrote a goodbye love song to their sister! The song was a cover of Afterglow by Ed Sheeran, and gave the guys the opportunity to share the love for their sister and the memories they would hold onto as she traveled back to live in Hungary with Domi.

Cake Cutting

After these beautiful, solemn moments, it was time for some fun! Julianna and Domi had a beautiful cake that (I bet) tasted even better.

DANCING

Now it was time for some real fun! From the newlyweds first dance, to the anniversary dances with every married couple, to the ridiculous and awesome dance moves the guests brough out, the dance floor was truly one to remember!

The Hungarian Last Dance

This wedding ended with the wonderful Hungarian tradition of a last dance for the newly married couple. Their guests lovingly looked on, holding candles to create this magical moment. The night ended with tender goodbyes, and the newlyweds made their getaway!
